The Montana Office of the Commissioner of Higher Education (OCHE) requires that a student must be between the ages of 16-19 in order to be eligible to participate in any University's dual enrollment program. Students under the age of 16 that are interested in taking classes through our University Connections program, may request an exception.

If you are under the age of 16 at the start of any semester, you will be asked to complete the following forms before your registration request can be processed:

The Dual Enrollment Under 16 – Parent/Guardian Acknowledgment Form details the important information to be aware of when enrolling in a college course. It details expectations for both the student and their parent/guardian when choosing to enroll in a college course early.

The Dual Enrollment Age Waiver Form form provides the opportunity for a student to explain why they are ready for college courses at an early age and detail any prior experience they may have in a specific content area if applicable. We ask that the student, parent/guardian, and a representative from the student's high school or home school association also sign off on this form.

Cut-off dates

  • Fall Semester: September 1
  • Spring Semester January 1
  • Summer Semester: May 1

Please submit all completed forms to Kaili Payne at kaili.payne@msubillings.edu.

Once the following documents are submitted, you'll receive communication on if your request is approved or denied within 7-10 business days. If you have any questions about this process or the forms, feel free to reach out to Kaili Payne or the Dual Enrollment Office.
