Do you love the Zoo? Would you like to help make a difference? ZooMontana is powered by committed, enthusiastic volunteers who work side by side with our staff in roles of all kinds to deliver strong customer service and behind the scenes support to create a welcoming and educational environment for our guests of all ages.

We will match your time commitment, talents, and interests with the Zoo’s needs to find the perfect fit. Time commitments varies from regular, ongoing volunteers who serve 2-4 days per month to a per-event basis for community and corporate volunteers.

Moss Mansion

Volunteer at Moss Mansion works on preservation project
Volunteers at the Moss Mansion will participate with staff and crucial, tenured volunteers to assist in various ways. You may volunteer as a docent and site historian to share the history of this historic house museum; visitor services; in the archives or special projects such as with curatorial and education topics; behind-the-scenes event assistance, mansion preservation, andfacility maintenance; or garden and groundskeeping. Apply online to beginning training for your volunteer position.

Eagle Mount of Billings

Eagle mount volunteer assists a child with a disability in recreation activity
This invaluable nonprofit organization provides therapeutic adaptive recreation for individuals with disabilities. Volunteers are paired with an Eagle Mount participant to encourage them to step outside of their comfort zones, ensuring their safety throughout the activity, and coaching them in new skills. Success Mentor and CARE Academy / Discover Zone

Help children succeed for as little as one hour a week. Become a success mentor or CARE academy/discover zone volunteer. Success Mentors promote regular, on-time attendance and other habits of student success with one-on-one weekly sessions. St. John’s United Clinical Laboratory

Gain clinical experience by volunteering in St. John’s United COVID testing laboratory! Flexible shifts are available between 8am and 5pm Monday through Friday. Volunteers will serve as assistant and secretarial support to the Clinical Laboratory Scientist. Duties include: answering phones, assisting with vaccine clinics, and data entry. Volunteers will work on ranch "housekeeping" tasks to assist with running the facilities to support the community and education of participants at the YBGR. Volunteers will work along side the youth admitted at the ranch, providing meaningful interaction and socialization with these individuals.
