Advising Appointments
We are happy to work with you in person, over the phone, online (utilizing Webex) or by email to discuss your academic plans. Appointments are available with each advisor by calling (406) 247-3019 or (800) 565-6782 x3019. Appointments are generally scheduled for 30-60 minutes. Students can email ccadvising@msubillings.edu with general advising questions.
As advisors we can assist you with selection of courses and academic issues, but the ultimate responsibility for meeting graduation requirements belongs to you, the student.
Assessment Testing -
We utilize mutliple measures when determining placement for our incoming and transfer students. These measures include high school gpa, courses taken at high school and overall gpa, ACT or SAT and EdReady math placement and workup scores and a writing/reading prompt. Individuals that have been out of high school or completed their HiSet over three years ago will be encouraged to take the free/online EdReady math placement assessment to assist with placement into math. For writing and reading placement we will have students complete an online prompt to be reviewed by MSUB faculty. Transfer students who have not completed their General Education requirements in English or mathematics and if previous placements tests are over 3 years of age will be encouraged to take the EdReady math placement assessment and/or the Writing/Reading prompt. For further information on how to access the placement measures, contact Jacket Student Central at (406) 247-3019 or email ccadvising@msubillings.edu. Please note that both assessment are free and can be done on campus or remotely.
The advisor will review the various placement measures available to them and review with the student how these place them into English, math, reading and program courses.
