MSU BILLINGS NEWS — Montana State University Billings Northcutt Steele Gallery (NSG) has been awarded a grant from the Montana Arts Council. This is the first time that the NSG has received a grant from the Montana Arts Council in over twenty years.
The Montana Arts Council Public Value Partnership grant will provide the Northcutt Steele Gallery with a total of $8,000 over the next four years. Grant funds will provide operational support for NSG. This project is supported by the Montana Arts Council, a state agency funded by the State of Montana and the National Endowment for the Arts.
Public Value Partnerships (PVP) provide operational support for the artistic and educational mission of Montana arts organizations. Public Value Partners selected for the grant expand their work by building relationships with audiences, funders, community and political leaders; creating a greater relevance and connection to what has value and meaning to the community; and demonstrating a strong return on investment that brings meaning, adds vitality and becomes a catalyst for new ways of thinking, seeing and solving problems.
NSG Director and Associate Professor of Art History, Leanne Gilbertson, is the primary investigator (PI) for the grant. “I am delighted and honored that we have received this funding from the Montana Arts Council,” Gilbertson said. “It recognizes the work we have done to professionalize our students and to build connections to our community. I look forward to broadening our gallery programs in the coming years with this extra support, and continuing to explore innovative ways of introducing our audiences to challenging ideas.”
The PVP grant will be awarded annually through 2023. This project is supported by the Montana Arts Council, a state agency funded by the State of Montana and the National Endowment for the Arts.
