MSU Billings to host emergency response drill

MSU BILLINGS NEWS— MSU Billings will host an emergency response drill in partnership with members of the Local Emergency Planning Committee (LEPC) on Tuesday, April 9 from 9 to 11 a.m. at the Physical Education building on the university campus.
This one-day drill will focus on the LEPC’s response to a large scale disaster and unified approach. Sixteen agencies and organizations will have staff participating in this training drill including Montana State University Billings, MSU Billings Police Department, Billings Police Department, Billings Fire Department, American Medical Response, St. Vincent Healthcare, Billings Clinic, RiverStone Health, Yellowstone Amateur Radio Emergency Services (YARES), Yellowstone County Disaster Emergency Service (DES), United Way of Yellowstone County, Montana Disaster Emergency Services (DES), Airport Rescue and Fire Fighting, Hope K-9 Teams, Billings 9-1-1, United Way, and Billings Public Schools.
This drill will be held privately by our participating agencies. The media will be encouraged to attend the drill on April 9 at 10 a.m. at the Bjorgum parking lot, off of north 27th street to the north of the P.E. building. Media representatives will be allowed access to the drill, after a press conference style briefing where questions may be asked.
K.C. Williams, D.E.S. Coordinator for Yellowstone County, states “I am pleased that we have such a unified effort to conduct this large scale disaster response drill. Our proactive approach involving this number of agencies working together is a testament and a test of our planning, communications, and overall response.”
Media updates will be given at the conclusion of the drill. This is only a training drill. There is no need for alarm.
