MSUB Music department presents junior and senior recitals

Hanna Jandro and Malia Howell to perform voice recitals Nov. 18

MSU BILLINGS NEWS—The Montana State University Billings Department of Music presents two vocal recitals on Sunday, Nov. 18. 

Voice major Hanna Jandro, dramatic-soprano, will present her Junior Voice Recital at 3 p.m. in fulfillment of the requirements for the Bachelor of Arts in Music Performance degree.

Malia Howell will also perform her Senior Vocal Recital at 5 p.m. in fulfillment of her Vocal Performance and Music Education degrees.

Both performances will be held in Cisel Recital Hall on the MSU Billings university campus.

The daughter of Kathy and Arthur Jandro, Hanna graduated from Senior High School in Billings in 2013, and has studied voice with Professor Douglas Nagel since 2014. Jandro has been an active participant in the MSU Billings Chamber Singers, University Choir, and has also been in community productions including Don Pasquale and the one-act opera Speed Dating Tonight. She has performed on the Community stage at the Montana State Fair for the past five summers.

Jandro’s recital will be accompanied by pianist Tim Schoessler, and vocalists Marisa Getchell, Emerald Hart, Kieran Beebe, Brock Boender, and Mady Feuerstein. Her program will consist of works by Fauré, Órbradors, Puccini, Brahms, Mozart, and many others.

Howell, a native of Arlington, Texas, and Billings resident since 2013, has studied voice with Professor Nagel since 2014. In Texas, she was a longtime student of Natalie Mitchell and participated in her high school choirs, orchestra, and musicals. She has continued choral work in the Chamber and University Choirs during her college career, and has expanded to performing often with the Nova Center in both musicals and operas. Lead roles consist of those in Old Maid and the Thief, Don Pasquale, The Scarf, and The Lantern Marriage.

Accompanying artists for Miss Howell’s recital include pianist Tim Schoessler and mezzo-soprano Marisa Getchell. Works by de Falla, Boulanger, Marx, Rossini, Larsen, Lehrer, and Whitacre comprise the musical selections.
