MSU BILLINGS NEWS— The SkillsUSA Club at MSU Billings’ City College is excited to host this year’s free vehicle winterization clinic on Saturday, Nov. 17 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Winter is coming, and the last thing anyone wants to deal with during the freezing weather is a car that won’t run. Community members are invited to bring in their vehicles for a free winter inspection.
Students, supervised by staff, will inspect vehicles for battery condition, safe tire pressures and conditions, proper fluid levels (including coolant), and belt and hose quality. Recommendations will be made as needed.
This is the fifth year that City College students have offered this service to the Billings community. While not required, free-will donations will be accepted and appreciated. All funds raised will help pay for the club’s travel to the SkillsUSA state competition in Havre.
Last year’s team took home top awards in several competition areas, with four students advancing and competing in the 54th national-level SkillsUSA competition held in Louisville, Kentucky.
“This is something that I have all of my classes do and it truly is a service for the community,” said Department Chair for Transportation and Welding Fabrication and SkillsUSA advisor, Kat Pfau.
The clinic is a great opportunity for students to give back to the community, as some have never volunteered before. This event continues to be a great success, with students and advisors participating in inspections steadily throughout the entire event.
Refreshments will be provided for people to enjoy while waiting for their vehicle to be looked over.
