MSU BILLINGS NEWS SERVICES — Montana State University Billings (MSUB) will commemorate the life of Martin Luther King Jr. with a bell ringing ceremony on Monday, Jan. 15, 2018 at 9:50 a.m. in the Peaks to Plains Park on campus. The ringing of the bell symbolizes the quest for peace, justice, human rights, and social and economic progress for all people.
The symbol of the bell also embraces America’s historic Liberty Bell, the representation
of independence. MSUB has been honoring Martin Luther King Jr. for over 20 years.
Directly following the Bell Ringing Ceremony, a program honoring Martin Luther King
Jr. will take place in the Student Union Building (SUB) Atrium. The program will include
a welcome by Associated Students of MSUB President Katelyn Focht, a presentation by
community activist Eran Thompson, and a musical performance by MSUB student Kieran
Beebe.
This event is free and open to the public. It is held in conjunction with Power of
One week, Jan. 15 through Jan. 20. A schedule of events is below and full details
