MSU BILLINGS NEWS SERVICES — Athletic Training Program students from Montana State University Billings brought home top honors after winning a quiz bowl.

Students and faculty with MSU Billings’ Athletic Training Program recently attended the Northwest Athletic Training Association (NWATA) Annual Meeting and Clinical Symposia in Tacoma, Washington.

After winning the regional quiz bowl the team, consisting of students Mariah Cleveland, Katie Martin, and Robert Tate will represent the organization at the national meeting in June in Houston.

There, they will compete for the national title against nine other regional schools.

The quiz bowl is a “Jeopardy” style competition pitting athletic training programs in the region (Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Montana and Alaska) against each other. The MSUB team competed against 10 other schools.

“At the national level they will be vying for bragging rights, as well as monetary awards,” said Program Director Suzette Nynas.

During the annual meeting, Nynas was honored as well.

She received the NWATA Director’s Award. This award is given in recognition for her contributions to athletic training in the region.

Athletic trainers are allied health professionals specializing in the prevention, care, and treatment of injuries and medical conditions of the physically active individual.
