Student Health Services and Phoenix Center hosting ‘Sexual Violence Prevention 101’ workshop
Workshop takes place from 11:30 a.m., to 1 p.m., March 31 in the SUB Beartooth Room. Lunch provided and open to all MSUB faculty, staff and students.

MSU BILLINGS NEWS SERVICES — Montana State University Billings Student Health Services (SHS) and the Phoenix Center are hosting a “Sexual Violence Prevention 101” workshop.
The workshop, aimed at developing an engaging and ongoing dialogue on how to prevent sexual violence, takes place from 11:30 a.m., to 1:00 p.m., March 31 in the Student Union Building Beartooth Room. The training is open to all MSU Billings faculty, staff and students and lunch is provided.
The workshop will be delivered by guest speaker Kelly Parsley, M.A., M.P.H.
Parsley speaks both locally and nationally on violence prevention and has been a victim advocate for 20 years.
She currently chairs the Health Sciences Department at Carroll College and serves on both St. Peter’s Hospital Board of Directors and the National Sexual Violence Resource Center’s Advisory Board.
Parsley has a wide range of experiences in public health and violence prevention. She has worked as the Sexual Violence Prevention Coordinator for the Montana Coalition against Domestic and Sexual Violence and served on their Board of Directors for four years.
In 2011, she was named the National Outstanding Prevention Professional of the Year by Everfi, a national agency that supports alcohol and violence prevention, and in 2015, she was honored with the National Visionary Voice Award given to innovative leaders in violence prevention.
Additionally, in the spring of 2015, she was chosen to serve on the White House Think Tank on College Sexual Assault.
SHS Wellness Specialist Christine Ditter hopes all of campus gets involved.
“We need your help!” she said. “Interpersonal violence is everyone’s issue. We hope everyone joins us for an important conversation on how to play a role in preventing violence.”
