MSU BILLINGS NEWS SERVICES — The Northcutt Steele Gallery at Montana State University Billings is currently accepting submissions for its annual juried student exhibition.
This year, submissions are only being accepted online and the deadline is March 17.
The annual exhibition is a great professional development opportunity for MSUB students, offering them experiences with the process of preparing artwork for gallery display and familiarizing them with the process of a juried exhibition.
The online submission form and instructions are available at 2017 JSE Entry Link.
All currently enrolled MSUB students may enter up to three artworks for consideration for inclusion in the exhibition. Artworks juried into the exhibition will also be considered for cash awards selected by our guest juror.
This year’s juror Dean Adams is currently Foundations Coordinator and teaches ceramics at the School of Art at Montana State University.
Adams has exhibited on the national and international stage and has participated in many artists’ residencies; including The Archie Bray Foundation, The Banff Centre, and Watershed Center for Ceramics. Adams is also vice president of Programming for Integrative Teaching International, and a member of Foundations Art Theory, Education.
Northcutt Steele Gallery Director Dr. Leanne Gilbertson said Adams will be a wonderful guest juror for this special student event.
“We are thrilled to have Dean Adams—a dynamic, vibrant artist and art educator—jurying this exhibition,” Gilbertson said. “We look forward to having him review the exceptional work of our students, and look forward to his campus visit in April.”
The juried student exhibition will open at Northcutt Steele Gallery on April 6 and runs through May 4.
A catered reception and awards ceremony for the student artists will be held from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., April 20.
The Northcutt Steele Gallery is located on the first floor of the Liberal Arts building on the university campus. The gallery is open 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday – Friday and by appointment.
