MSU BILLINGS NEWS SERVICES — Montana State University Billings will host a forum for area legislative candidates next week to give voters a chance to hear about issues and ideas before the Nov. 6 election.

Sponsored with the Billings Chamber of Commerce/Convention Visitors Bureau and the Associated Students of Montana State University Billings, the forum kicks off a series of election year events at the university. It is set for Tuesday, Sept. 25 at 6:30 p.m. at Petro Theatre on the MSU Billings University Campus just off of Poly Drive. It is free and open to everyone.

The forum will allow the dozens of Yellowstone area legislative candidates an opportunity to talk about ideas and policy matters that are important to them. It is not a debate, but a discussion of issues.

A debate between U.S. Senate candidates Jon Tester, the incumbent Democrat, and Denny Rehberg, current Montana congressman and Republican challenger, will be held on Oct. 8. Other debates between U.S. House candidates and Montana gubernatorial candidates are also in the works for early October at Petro Theatre. Billings Democrat Kim Gillan is challenging Bozeman Republican Steve Daines for Montana’s lone congressional seat being vacated by Rehberg. The governor’s race pits Republican Rick Hill, a former Montana congressman, against Democrat Steve Bullock, Montana’s current attorney general.
