Experienced store manager will direct operations at stores at two locations in Billings
MSU BILLINGS NEWS SERVICES — Chad Schreier, who has been in charge of college store operations at Lebanon Valley College in Annville, Penn., has been hired as the new director of Jackets & Co., the bookstore operations at Montana State University Billings.
Schreier officially begins his duties on May 29, but will be in Billings soon to do
some work in conjunction of the remodeling of the MSU Billings Student Union Building.
Schreier takes over the director role from Dennis Rea, who retired last fall after
more than two decades as director.
Schreier has more than 12 years of retail and management experience including more
than six years in higher education as the director of a college store. In his previous
role at Lebanon Valley College, he was responsible for all facets of college store
operations including finance, marketing, logistics and human resources.
In his work in higher education, Schreier worked with the administration to completely transform the College Store. Some of his major projects include the implementation of a fully integrated Point-of-Sale (POS) system that tracks inventory and links both textbook, general merchandise, and online sales; the release of a new, integrated e-commerce solution through the POS provider; implementing short-term facilities upgrades including remodeling the office spaces, upgrading the store fixtures and most recently, overseeing the construction of a brand-new store. A proponent of cost-reduction and efficiency, he worked to use benchmarking to compare and improve the financial performance of the store, as well as reducing the overall cost of education to its main stakeholders, the students.
Schreier is an active member of the National Association of College Stores (NACS), where he has served on several committees, including the programming committee for the industry’s largest event, the Campus Marketing Expo (CAMEX). He currently serves on the NACS Education Committee, the Retail Think Tank, and is the chair of the Leadership and Human Resources Council. Considered a “rising star” among his peers, he has presented at both industry events for NACS as well as at the system symposium for Missouri Textbook Exchange, Inc. (MBS) and his innovations have been featured in College Store magazine, Campus Marketplace and The Chronicle of Higher Education. He is a Certified Collegiate Retailer, earning the designation in 2009.
Schreier’s areas of expertise include operations management, facilities management, logistics, supply chain management, human resources/staffing, project management, budgeting/sales forecasting, benchmarking and web-commerce. He received his Master of Business Administration from Lebanon Valley College in 2009 and also holds an undergraduate degree in history from the same institution.
He and his wife, Kathleen, have been married for more than three years and they have three pets.
