MSU BILLINGS NEWS SERVICES — A nationally-recognized tax authority will be in Billings in November for the 20th annual Tax Practitioners Institute hosted by Montana State University Billings.

 

William Murphy, CPA, PFS, ABV, CVA combines real-life experiences with essential down-to-earth tax materials, responding to fast-breaking new tax developments that affect individuals, estates, businesses, partnerships and corporations.

He will be the featured speaker at the annual tax seminar on Nov. 30 and Dec. 1. The event will be held at MSU Billings Downtown, 2804 3rd Ave. N. (the corner of Third and Broadway) from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day.

 

The objective of the event is to enable all tax practitioners — accountants, attorneys, etc. — to identify and solve clients’ tax problems before tax season starts. New tax planning ideas are emphasized and Murphy will bring his extensive experience to the table to provide insights and training.

 

Murphy is presently a consulting principal in Murphy, McClary, Stover and Burnett, LLC, of Indianapolis, Ind. The firm provides tax and financial services to corporations and professional practices in the state of Indiana. In addition to being a CPA, he is accredited in Business Valuation, holds a Personal Financial Specialist certificate from the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and is certified in Financial Forensics. He also holds the designation of Certified Valuation Analyst (CVA) awarded by the National Association of Certified Valuation Analysts.

 

He has appeared as an expert witness in numerous cases involving marital and business disputes and has lectured extensively on valuation and tax issues for the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, Western CPE, National Business Institute, Indiana Continuing Legal Education Forum, Indiana CPA Society, National Association of Certified Valuation Analysts, as well as other local continuing educational programs. Murphy has been a contributing expert to FOX News, CNBC and various local media channels and has articles appearing in the Indianapolis Star, Indiana Business Journal and The Wall Street Journal.

 

Murphy has also been associated with Indiana and national CPA firms with involvement and specialization in taxation, auditing and small business development.

 

Registration for the annual tax practitioners institute is now open. Registration fee is $319 and includes meals both days. Anyone who registers before the Nov. 11 early registration deadline receives a break and can register for $299.

 

All participants will receive 16 CLE, CFP or CPE credits for attending the workshop.
