MSU BILLINGS NEWS SERVICES — Secretary of State and Chief Elections Officer Linda McCulloch will be at Montana State University Billings on Thursday to encourage college students to register to vote. The visit is part of her statewide effort to boost awareness of civic engagement through National Voter Registration Month.

Secretary of State Linda McCulloughMcCulloch will be making a short presentation and visiting with students at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, Sept. 16 in the Library Building just outside the entrance to the MSU Billings Library. She will have voter registration materials and other information.

Kayla Corcoran, president of the Associated Students of Montana State University Billings, will also be at the event encouraging students to register if they haven’t done so.

McCulloch will also visit with students at the MSU Billings College of Technology at around noon at the West End campus, 3803 Central Ave.

McCulloch said while 85 percent of eligible Montanans are registered to vote, she wants to raise the bar even higher.  She will be working with Montana's election administrators and county clerks and recorders to ensure the state's 755,161 eligible voters have the tools they need to vote in the General Election on Nov. 2.

The deadline for regular registration is 5 p.m. on Oct. 4. Voters may register in person at the county election office, or by filling out and returning a voter registration card to the county election office. Voter registration cards can be found on the Secretary of State's website at sos.mt.gov/Elections.

For more information on McCulloch’s visit, contact the Secretary of State’s office at 444-2807. MSU Billings students can find out more about registering to vote by contacting the Associated Students of Montana State University Billings at 657-2365.
