MSU BILLINGS NEWS SERVICES — The Montana State University Billings Symphonic Band will give its Fall Concert — including a premier of an original composition — on Tuesday, Dec. 8 at 7:30 p.m. in Cisel Hall on the MSU Billings main campus.
Under the direction of Dr. Mark Fenderson, the concert will feature the world premiere of “An American Overture” by John Ryther of Orlando, Fla. Ryther has been an arranger for Disney for many years and the MSU Billings Symphonic Band is proud to be premiering one of his original compositions.
The concert will also feature French horn soloist Susie Fritts. Fritts is the new adjunct horn instructor at MSU Billings, teaches music in Billings School District 2 and plays in the Billings Symphony. In addition, Senior music major Elliot Cross will be conducting a work composed by his great-grandfather.
The concert will include the music of Frescobaldi, Schubert, Debussy, Copland, Vaughan Williams and Texidor. Tickets are $5 for adults, $3 for students and seniors. MSU Billings students and staff are free with a valid id.
