Community presentation on the economy to be given April 2

 

MSU BILLINGS NEWS SERVICES — Lyle R. Knight, president and CEO of First Interstate BancSystem, Inc., will be making presentations to students and the campus community as his role as the Montana State University Billings College of Business’ Executive in Residence on Thursday, April 2. A talk that afternoon will also be open to the public.

This will be the first of two appearances at MSU Billings in 2009 as Executive in Residence for Knight, said Dr. Gary Young, dean of the College of Business. The next will be in the fall at a date to be announced.

 

At the April 2 appearance at the university, Knight will meet with business students and members of the College of Business advisory board for a luncheon presentation. At 2 p.m. that day, Knight will give a talk to the university and greater Billings community about the current state of the economy. His talk, “When Will This Economy Recover? A Banker’s Point of View,” is free and open to the public and will be held in Room 231 in the Liberal Arts Building.

 

Later that afternoon, Knight and representatives from First Interstate will meet with business majors to talk about career opportunities in banking and finance.

 

“We’re excited about having Mr. Knight here as our executive in residence this year and his availability for our faculty and students,” Young said. “It’s a tremendous opportunity for everyone.”

 

Knight, 63, has been involved in the banking industry for more than 30 years. He is currently the president and CEO of First Interstate BancSystems, a $6 billion bank holding company that consists of 70 branches in Montana, Wyoming and South Dakota. He has been active in community affairs his entire adult life and serves on the National Executive Board of the Boy Scouts.
