FREE summer event set for Tuesday, July 14
MSU BILLINGS NEWS SERVICES — Free activities for kids, an obstacle course, plenty of great music and even a hot dog-eating contest will highlight this year’s Summerfest at Montana State University Billings.
Summerfest is the university’s annual community celebration of all things that make summer fun. It is co-sponsored by the Associated Students of Montana State University Billings and the Student Activities Board and is scheduled for Tuesday, July 14 from 4:30-8 p.m. on the grounds of the university’s main campus at 1500 University Drive.
Activities for Summerfest are free and open to the community. A barbecue picnic costs $7.50 for adults and $4 for children 10 and under.
New this year will be several performances by local musicians that will take place during the evening. The Planet 106.7-FM will also be on hand to provide music. Also new this year will be a hot dog-eating contest featuring MSU Billings staff and faculty. The gastronomic gala is set for 6 p.m.
There will be a throng of free activities for families, including inflatable games, obstacles and toys, balloons, face painting, a dunking booth, rides by the Shrine clown train and guest appearances by MSU Billings Yellowjacket athletes. Cotton candy and snow cones will also be given away free while they last.
