MSU BILLINGS NEWS SERVICES — In honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, students at Montana State University Billings and Rocky Mountain College are setting aside an inter-city rivalry for a common cause.
Women students from both colleges will play a powder-puff football game on Thursday, Oct. 9 at 6 p.m. at the Rocky Mountain College football field. Fellow students, faculty and staff from both institutions, as well as the general public, are being asked to support the endeavor by making a monetary donation. Supporters can donate a certain amount of money for each point scored or can make a flat donation.
The game will be open to the public and other student organizations will be at the game selling popcorn and T-shirts to help raise funds.
All proceeds will be donated to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation.
The event was the brainchild of Christine Haaland, a student from Roundup and the chair of the MSU Billings Student Activities Board. She said she wanted to find a fun way to get students involved in raising awareness of breast cancer and support a worthy cause.
Anyone who wants to make a donation or find out more information can contact Haaland at 657-2387 or at christine.haaland@myportal.montana.edu.
