Federal and State Financial Aid

By filing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) you are applying for federal and state grants, federal loans, and the state and federal work-study programs. There are various types of federal and state-funded grants, loans, and work-study programs. Based on federal and state guidelines, your eligibility is determined from the information you provide on the FAFSA.

*You must apply to the MSU Billings Online and be accepted before you will receive a federal or state award from the University.

How do I apply for financial aid?
The Department of Education encourages students to submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) online at www.fafsa.ed.gov.  The FAFSA must be filed annually, and becomes available for the upcoming academic year (Fall/Spring) on October 1st of every year. The FAFSA priority filing date for MSUB  is December 1st.  Submit your application before this date to ensure you are considered for all types of aid for which you are eligible.  Remember to include the MSUB school code - 002530 - on your application so we will be sure to receive your information.  The FAFSA is a Free Application and there are many free services to help answer any questions that may arise in filling out the form. You do not need to pay an agency or individual to file the FAFSA for you. For more information on how to complete the FAFSA visit: https://studentaid.ed.gov/sa/fafsa or contact the MSUB Office of Financial Aid & Scholarships at finaid@msubillings.edu or by calling  800.565.6782 ext. 2188.

*Please note: You must complete the FAFSA every year in order to receive financial aid.
