Services for Faculty
For our full slate of services to faculty and teaching staff, please see the library's Faculty Toolkit.
Research & Reference
From tracking down obscure citations to consulting on copyright issues, our librarians are here to help with all your information needs. Chat with us online, email us at library@msubillings.edu, call us at 406-657-1662, or stop by our Ask Here Desk on the 2nd floor during our operating hours.
Instruction
Would you like an expert to visit your class to teach about research skills, library
tools, database searching, or information literacy? Our librarians are here for you!
To request a library instruction session for your class, please complete the Library Instruction Request form. Because we need time to adequately prepare and tailor your instruction session,
please submit your request at least one week in advance.
Library Liaisons
The purpose of the library liaison program is to develop collaborative relationships between librarians and instructors in order to provide appropriate services and resources to meet the information needs of the MSUB population. In other words? Your department's library liaison is your person to call in the library to work with on classes, research, or anything else. We are happy to help!
Checkouts
You can check out books and other items at the 2nd floor Ask Here Desk or the nearby self-checkout station; please remember to bring your MSUB UCard, which is also your library card. To renew loans, please log into your library account or call 406-657-1662. Although the library does not generate overdue fees for items not returned by their due dates, you will be charged for the cost of replacements if items are lost or are not returned within a reasonable period.
Most of the library's physical/print materials are available to check out for one calendar year:
- Books
- Periodicals (journals, magazines)
- DVDs
- Government documents
Further materials are available for in-library use, but may not be checked out:
- Newspapers
- Reference (style guides, dictionaries, encyclopedias)
- Special collections
Need something that is not in our collection? Request it through Interlibrary Loan!
Computers & Technology
You are welcome to use the computers available on the 1st floor, near the IT Helpdesk,
or on the 2nd floor, near the Ask Here desk. Log in with your NetID and password. As per IT policies, users must utilize only their own login credentials.
Scanners, including large-format KIC stations, are available on both floors. Our printer for faculty and staff ("LIBRARY-01") is located next to the red telephone box on the 2nd floor.
Need to create a video or podcast? Make a reservation for the Record & Go Studio, which is equipped with cameras, lighting, and microphones to fit your needs—or the needs of your students!
Library Spaces
Staff and faculty are welcome to collaborate, study, read, or relax on any of the library's three floors. The library's space includes study rooms, diner-style booths, carrels, and armchairs. Some spaces are equipped with whiteboards or with large digital monitors to connect with laptops.
The library offers classrooms and study rooms of varying sizes for meetings, classes, and university events. The library offers reservations as needed. The LI 152 and LI 231 lecture halls are not considered part of the library proper, but library staff at the 2nd floor Ask Here Desk are available to assist with last-minute access issues.
