MSU BILLINGS NEWS SERVICES — Pink Night will be held Feb. 15 in Alterowitz beginning at 5:00 p.m. It is hosted by Montana State University Billings, Montana State University Billings Foundation, and Yellowjacket Athletics in partnership with St. Vincent Healthcare Foundation’s Eva Project, and DKMS.
This year’s Pink Night honors cancer survivors with an emphasis on preventative health and how individuals can make a difference in the lives of others.
Yellowjacket Athletics hosts double-headers on Feb. 15 with the Men’s Basketball team facing Saint Martin’s at 5:15 p.m. The Women’s Basketball team hosts their 12th annual Think Pink Game, in partnership with St. Vincent Healthcare Foundation’s Eva Project at 7:30 p.m. against Concordia.
Fans are encouraged to show their support for breast cancer awareness by dressing in pink attire. Fans wearing pink receive free admission to the games.
The St. Vincent Healthcare’s EVA Project will have a presence in the lobby of Alterowitz and throughout the match. A limited number of Think Pink t-shirts will be available for purchase at the game with all proceeds being donated back to the EVA Project. The community outreach program provides free mammograms to local women and education in the Yellowstone Breast Center or on the mobile mammography coach.
A bone marrow donor drive, hosted by MSUB and MSUB Foundation, will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. in the lobby of Alterowitz during Pink Night. There is no charge to participate. This is to support students and others with blood cancers and blood disorders. Each potential bone marrow and stem cell donor recruited and registered during the drive represents hope to patients around the world searching for a lifesaving match.
DKMS, an international nonprofit organization dedicated to the fight against blood cancer and blood disorders, is coordinating the bone marrow donor drive. According to their website, young people are often the best donors for patients fighting blood cancer. When you are in the "prime of your life," it's also the best time to help save a life. That's why DKMS teams up with students to hold more bone marrow donor registration drives at campuses across the country - to add more young people to our list of potential lifesavers.
New this year, the loudest, most-spirited, pink-wearing group will receive a pizza party during the Women’s Basketball game. Groups can be clubs, organizations, offices, departments, or a gathering of family and friends.
Additionally, 50-50 and raffle drawings will be held during the Women’s Basketball game. Bring your peers to cheer on the Yellowjackets and support great causes!
