MSU BILLINGS NEWS SERVICES — Today at 10 a.m. is a celebration to launch the Peace Corps Prep Certificate program at Montana State University Billings. It will be held in room 205 of the Liberal Arts building.

This is the first time the program has been offered in eastern Montana. Following the program launch, there will be a student information session. Campus and the public are invited to attend the celebration.

MSUB has partnered with the Peace Corps to offer a Peace Corps Prep certificate program for undergraduate students. The program, now in effect, prepares students for service in the Peace Corps and sets students up to be successful intercultural leaders after graduation.

This program is a great way to increase international awareness and prepare students for international development opportunities with the Peace Corps, nongovernmental agencies, governmental agencies, or international businesses.

When students go abroad with the Peace Corps, they increase the international footprint of the state, and the global experiences they bring back prepare them for rewarding careers in the global marketplace and add value to the economy and home communities.

The program is centered on building student competencies in sector-specific skills, foreign language proficiency, intercultural competence, professional savvy, and leadership. Students who incorporate the program into their curriculum will have hands-on experiences and professional development opportunities integrated in their coursework.

After completing the program, students will receive a certificate from the Peace Corps and a competitive advantage when applying for Peace Corps service.

MSUB is one of nearly 100 Peace Corps Prep partner schools across the country and has over 100 alumni who have participated in the Peace Corps.

Students or others interested in learning more about the program, can visit the MSUB website.
