MSU BILLINGS NEWS SERVICES — The completion of the MSU Billings Yellowstone Science & Allied Health Building took another major step forward this week with a grant of $150,000 from The Sunderland Foundation. This is the second gift that MSU Billings has received from The Sunderland Foundation for the building, having received a grant for $75,000 in 2016 for a total of $225,000. The Sunderland Foundation was created in 1945 by the Sunderland family who has been associated with the successful management of the Ash Grove Cement Company since 1909 and created the foundation to provide a much-needed source of funding for established non-profits that need new or improved facilities.
The Yellowstone Science and Allied Health Building project is MSU Billings’ initiative to expand and renovate the current science building which was built in 1947. The goal is to incorporate the science and allied health programs, curriculum and technology into a state-of-the-art facility where students get multidisciplinary experience. Today’s students will be tomorrow’s workforce employed in a variety of industries including healthcare, energy, agri-business and science.
