Vice Chancellor of Administration and Finance Terrie Iverson Retires After 33 Years of Service to MSU Billings

Iverson’s tenure gave her vast institutional knowledge and made her an asset to the university. Her distinguished career dates back to when the institution was known as Eastern Montana College (EMC).

Iverson graduated from EMC in 1982 with a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration specializing in accounting. Following graduation, she worked as an Auditor in the Legislative Auditor’s Office. Iverson returned to her alma mater two years later as a Grants and Contracts Accountant. 

During her time as a university employee, Iverson served in the positions of General Accounting Supervisor and Director of Internal Operations, prior to becoming the Vice Chancellor of Administration and Finance in 1991. In her role as Vice Chancellor of Administration and Finance, she was responsible for the business and financial operations of the university. She was also charged with the plans, staff organization, and leadership for business services, facilities services, human resources, financial services, information technology, and university police.

“Terrie has been a constant for the university over the years, providing valuable insights into our history and functions. She leads with her heart and has made life better for students, faculty, and staff, all while remaining a positive influence and encouraging collaboration,” comments MSU Billings Interim Chancellor Dr. Ron Larsen. “Her passion for higher education is a renowned. Terrie is a respected professional throughout the Montana University System, who has kept the interests of the students and the institution at front, guiding her in all of her roles at MSUB.”

Iverson has been actively involved in the Billings community and state organizations. She is a member of the Montana Society of Certified Public Accountants and the Montana Association of Female Executives, and a graduate of Leadership Billings in 1992. Iverson was one of the creators of the Montana Business Incubator, and served as Secretary-Treasurer,  Vice Chair, and as a Board Director for eight years.

A proud Yellowjacket, Iverson has volunteered as an MSUB Alumni Advisory Board Member, and has raised funds as a member of the People Pride and Promise Campaign. She was an active committee member for the MSUB/EMC 75th Anniversary Celebration, and played a strategic part in the merger for EMC/VoTech. On a state level, she served as a member of the OneMSU team and as a member of the Montana University System Recruitment and Retention Committee.

Iverson declared her intent to retire over a year ago. The formal search process for Iverson’s replacement is currently progressing.
