Mady Johnson’s junior clarinet recital will be held April1, 7 p.m., in the Cisel Recital Hall,;  Rachel Willis and Jason Webster will present their senior recital together on Saturday, April 2, at 7:30 p.m., also in Cisel Recital Hall.

 

MSU BILLINGS NEWS SERVICES — The Montana State University Billings Music Department presents April junior and senior recitals.

 

Music performance major Mady Johnson will perform her junior clarinet recital on April 1, at 7 p.m., in Cisel Recital Hall on the MSUB university campus. 

 

Rachel Willis and Jason Webster, music education majors, will present their senior recital on Saturday, April 2, at 7:30 p.m., also in Cisel Recital Hall.

 

Johnson graduated in 2013 from Shepherd High School in Shepherd, Mont. She can be heard regularly around Billings playing in multiple university ensembles including the Symphonic Band, Pep Band and Jazz Ensemble, as well as various local bands and musicals in the city. In early February, Johnson had the opportunity to perform with Wayne Bergeron at the 2016 MSUB Jazz Festival.

 

She will be accompanied by pianist Delores Vigesaa and will perform works by Paul Hindemith, George Gershwin and Johannes Brahms. She is a student of Gary Behm. 

 

Willis is a native of Basin, Wyoming, and graduated from Riverside High School. She has sung leading roles in “Iolanthe” and “Little Shop of Horrors” at Northwest College in Powell. She received an Outstanding Soloist Award at the Greeley Jazz Festival.

 

Webster is a native of Billings and graduated from Skyview High School. He has performed in “Aïda,” “Susannah” and “Gianni Schicchi” with the Rimrock Opera Company. Webster has also performed in Orff’s “Carmina Burana” and Poulenc’s “Gloria” with the Billings Symphony Orchestra and Chorale. He directs the choir at the United Methodist Church in Roberts, and teaches private voice lessons.

 

Please join Willis and Webster for their recital featuring works in five different languages by Mozart, Puccini, Franck, Quilter and Rodgers & Hammerstein.
