MSU BILLINGS NEWS SERVICES — Northcutt Steele Gallery at Montana State University presents in-resident artist Whitney Polich's "Re-Mapping the Stars", a collection of multimedia installations, photographs, videos and drawings that transform the gallery into an immersive environment intended to restore a child-like curiosity about how we construct our sense of place on the micro- and macro-levels.

The collection will be on exhibit from Oct. 29 through Dec. 3 with a reception and gallery talk onThursday, Oct. 29, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on the first floor of the Liberal Arts Building on the university campus, 1500 University Drive. The reception is catered and is free and open to the public.

Utilizing references to stars, galaxies and constellations, Polich's work blur the boundaries between physical and representational space in an effort to open up new possibilities for poetic engagements with the cosmos.

Polich's artwork is informed by her interest in myth, her farming ancestry, and her experiences growing up in the vast Montana landscape.  She received her MFA in Studio Art from Washington University, St. Louis (2014) and her BFA in Ceramics from The University of Montana.
