MSU BILLINGS NEWS SERVICES — Marilyn Grams, an area physician and supporter of the arts, will be showcasing her performance side during a senior recital at Montana State University Billings. The recital — free and open to the public — will be Saturday, March 24 at 3 p.m. in the Cisel Recital Hall on the MSU Billings campus.
Grams has a long and enthusiastic affection for the arts, especially piano. A native of Gillette, Wyo., she took childhood piano lessons from her mother, Fern Grams, and raised her children in Sheridan, Wyo., where she worked for years at the veteran’s hospital and later at Sheridan Clinic.
It wasn’t until 2005, however, that she took up piano as a college student and enrolled in the music program at MSU Billings. At that time, she was working for Billings Clinic at the Wellness Center and at area nursing homes.
She has served as a geriatrician and Senior Services Medical Director for Benefis Healthcare in Great Falls since 2009.
Since 1985, she has supported area arts, youth, educational and historic preservation organizations, and in recent years has donated six world-class pianos to MSU Billings, Sheridan College and the Great Falls Civic Center. She will be gifting a new Steinway grand piano purchased from Montana Piano in Billings to MSU Billings later this year.
Her senior recital on March 24 features works by Haydn, Liszt, Robert Schumann and contemporary American composer Emma Lou Diemer.
