House Bill 349, a bill to allow the state to issue general obligation bonds to fund construction projects around the state, includes $14.25 million for renovation of the Science Building at MSU Billings. That building, constructed in 1947, is the home of all of the sciences' undergraduate, graduate and research studies and its faculty. Its 14 classrooms and labs are in dire need of updating to meet the demands of 21st century faculty and students. The renovation of the science building is the No. 2 long range building priority of the Montana University System.

The bill will have its first hearing before the House Appropriations Committee on Wednesday, Feb. 16 at 3 p.m., or upon adjournment of the Montana House of Representatives floor session.
