HfWU Nuertingen-Geislingen University (NGU) offers academic education to more than 5,000 students. NGU is located with two major campuses in the two cities Nuertingen and Geislingen near Stuttgart in southwest Germany. The greater Stuttgart area - with industrial giants like Daimler AG, BOSCH, Porsche, HP and IBM – is known as one of the most booming regions in Germany and one of Europe’s leading technology regions. The beautiful countryside offers a widerange of recreational activities: mountain-biking, free climbing, hiking and winter sports.

NGU is primely suited for MSUB Business students, who can study business and economics coursework in English. Upper-level business students also have the option of taking MBA courses at NGU that can transfer back to MSUB. If you wish to pursue an MBA degree, you may be able to get started on coursework earlier while at NGU. The MBA coursework would meet both a MSUB business undergraduate degree requirements and MBA course requirements at NGU that has the transferability potential to other MBA programs.

NGU also offers several short-term summer business programs, which give students an opportunity to visit local multinational corporations, such as BMW and Porsche.

 TestimonialDavid Ballew, Study Abroad Student

"I have learned more culture in six months than I could learn after a lifetime of reading from books. At the end of my study, I will be able to say with confidence I have made friends for life residing all over the globe."

NeurtingenNuertingen Campus

HfWU is comprised of two campuses - Geislingen and Nuertingen. Nuertingen is the primary campus for exchange students. Students need to pay attention to their accommodation option and their course registration to ensure that the course location is appropriate. It takes about one hour to travel via public transportation between the two campuses.

Costs

MSUB students studying abroad at NGU pay MSUB tuition. Students are expected to pay for their room and board in Germany upon arrival to NGU. Prices range from €165 (±$202) to €300 (±$367) per month, plus deposit. Students also will need to budget for the German Residence Permit and health insurance - see below for more details. The average student should budget for $750-$900 per month for their time studying at NGU. This includes accommodation. Some German government sponsored scholarships are available for students in this program.

Accommodation

Exchange students have a room at the residence hall "Schelmenwasen 10," which is located on the outskirts of Nuertingen next to the university building CB1, which houses the central library. To get downtown and to the city campus, it takes about 15 minutes by bike or 20-30 minutes on foot.

During the day there is a regular bus and train from the nearby bus stop / train station to the city center where the lectures for Business Administration students take place.

Visas

American students may enter Germany to study short-term without a visa. If you stay in the country for more than three months, you must apply in Germany for the Residence Permit at the International Registration Authority (Auslaenderbehoerde) in the town hall. The cost for the residence permit is 100€ (±112). The university will support you in taking care of the Residence Permit.

Health Insurance

To ensure comprehensive and quality coverage, all study abroad students are required to enroll in insurance that is provided through the designated Montana University System insurance provider. Please consult with the Study Abroad Coordinator for further information. This insurance is affordable with a typical semester averaging about $250. Moreover, students studying for one semester or longer are required to purchase statutory health insurance administered by AOK, a German health insurance company. The cost for this additional insurance is about 107€/month ($120/mn).
