How do I start the transfer process?
Complete the Montana University System transfer form available online, and submit it to the Registrar’s office at your current school. They will send us your transcript and a copy of your complete application file. There may be a fee for these copies.
Once we receive these documents from your current school, our Admissions office will reach out to you through mail and email regarding your next steps and if there are any extra documents we might need to complete your file.
Will my courses transfer?
Within Montana, institutions have Common Course Numbering for courses that are similar in content. Your transcript(s) will be evaluated to determine if your courses will fulfill general education, major, minor (if applicable), or elective credits. For a complete list of the Common Course Numbering guide, check out the Common Course Numbering guide.
After we’ve processed your application file from your current school, our Advising and Career Services staff will evaluate your transcript to determine how your courses transfer. You can call (406) 657-2240 to schedule an appointment with your advisor in person, over the phone, or via WebEx to review your completed evaluation. You can see our full transfer policy in the MSU Billings Catalog.
