Explore Billings and MSUB
Billings, MT
We like that we share our name with our city, because MSU Billings plays an integral part in Billings’ supportive community. With so much to offer, our city isn’t your typical college town. Just sitting under the Rimrocks and outlined by the Yellowstone River, Billings is the center of commerce in healthcare, education, retail and business. Nicknamed the “Magic City”, Billings was founded as a railroad town and remains the trade center for Southeast Montana and the supporting region.
Area attractions are plentiful from the arts, theatre, live music, and diverse cuisine to the sporting events, rodeos, fishing and hunting. Billings doesn’t sit too far away from other Montana treasures such as Red Lodge Mountain skiing, the Beartooth Highway, Pompey’s Pillar, Yellowstone National Park and Pictograph Cave.
MSU Billings & City College
Since 1927, Montana State University Billings has created a student-centered learning environment. Since its early days as Eastern Montana College, the university continues to nurture a longstanding tradition of education access, teaching excellence, civic engagement and community enhancement. Between MSU Billings and its two-year college City College, students receive a well-rounded unique education for associate, bachelor’s and master’s degrees through one of the five colleges—Liberal Arts & Social Sciences, Business, Health Professions and Science, Education and City College.
Life on the university campus mirrors that of Billings; the students enjoy the 110 park-like acres sitting at the base of the Rimrocks and taking part in a variety of cultural, service, athletic or educational events. MSUB boasts its Yellowjacket pride through 15 NCAA athletic teams—the most in the state. Students can expect individual attention on this campus, from academic advisors and our approachable faculty. No other university in our state can compare with our competitive tuition prices and quality of our small class sizes.
The City College is dedicated to the development of the workforce by providing top quality specialized training and learning opportunities by being responsive, flexible, and market-driven. The two-year college offers university transfer education, career preparation, developmental education, GED preparation, and workforce training. The outstanding faculty here not only have expertise through their education, but are highly qualified by experience in their field of work.
