Glossary of Collegiate Terms
Apply for admission: The first step in attending City College at MSU Billings is to apply for admission.
Accuplacer test: This is a placement test given to all new incoming students in order to assess class placement. Some transfer students may also be required to take the test if they do not have transferable math and/or writing class. The Accuplacer test is untimed and has two components: writing and math. Immunization Requirement: Montana State Law requires the following immunizations for all students who were born after December 31, 1956.
Measles:
TWO (2) immunizations on or after 12 months of age and after December 31, 1968
or
Copy of lab report of immune titer or test results including the type of test and
test date.
Rubella:
Two (2) immunizations on or after 12 months of age and after December 31, 1968
or
Copy of lab report of immune titer or test results including the type of test and
test date.
Immunization records can be dropped off at Jacket Student Central or faxed to 406-247-2145
Student Health Services.
Orientation: Orientation provides an important campus experience including both academics and student life. In addition to academic advising, class registration, and workshops, you will meet and connect with other City College at MSU Billings Students. These sessions are held prior to a student attending the college and are for new, transfer and returning students. Please contact Admissions at 247-3007 about upcoming Orientation sessions.
Registration: After applying for admission and receiving your acceptance letter you will meet with an academic advisor by appointment. During this appointment (may be a group or individual) you will choose your classes and register for the upcoming semester.
Withdraw: a withdrawal form is completed in order to drop all classes and completely withdraw from the semester. For more information please stop by Jacket Student Central.
WUE: Western Undergraduate Exchange is a reduced tuition rate from out-of-state based on residency and applies to the following states: (AK, AZ, CA, CO, HI, ID, ND, NM, NV, OR, SD, UT, WA, WY)
