University of Montana Partnership
Find out more about University of Montana Athletic Training!
Montana State University Billings (MSUB) and the University of Montana (UM) Athletic Training Programs established a collaborative partnership to deliver athletic training education in Montana. In January 2011, program administrators and faculty met and developed an innovative way to dynamically engage students interested in athletic training across the state. Since that time, both university and program administrators and faculty have worked diligently to design a flexible and synergistic curriculum to meet and exceed national accreditation standards. The programs are a hybrid of in-person and online learning, and are delivered simultaneously by both programs. Beginning in July 2016, we are pleased to formally announce the start of integrated and collaborative delivery of athletic training education.
The partnership established by MSUB and UM provides the foundation for students to become health care professionals who collaborate with physicians. The services provided by athletic trainers comprise of prevention, emergency care, clinical diagnosis, therapeutic intervention and rehabilitation of injuries and medical conditions. Upon completion of the athletic training program, students are eligible to sit for the Board of Certification examination to become a certified athletic trainer.
