Student Refund Schedule

Important Notice Regarding Federal Aid Eligibility Changes Recent U.S. Department of Education (ED) regulatory updates related to federal Title IV aid (Direct Loan and Pell grant) reduction requirements may impact students enrolled less than full time. Under these rules, students enrolled in fewer than 12 credits may have their Title IV aid (Direct Loan and Pell) eligibility reduced compared to prior years. Additionally, if a student reduces their enrollment after a financial aid refund has been disbursed, their federal Direct Loan & Pell eligibility may need to be recalculated. This could result in Montana State University Billings (MSUB) returning a portion of the Title IV funds to the U.S. Department of Education (ED), which may create a balance owed by the student to MSUB. Students are encouraged to carefully consider enrollment changes and consult the Financial Aid Office prior to making adjustments. |
Student Accounts in the Business Office begins processing refunds 5 days prior to
the first day of classes to students with a full-time registration status (12 credits
Undergraduate/Post Baccalaureate) *. Students expecting a refund MUST complete all Financial Aid requirements and confirm their bill by the confirmation
deadline for the applicable semester. Holds on your account may stop a refund from
being processed.
Refunds are processed daily until the 15th class day (census), after census refunds will be processed each Tuesday and Thursday as permitted. Changes in courses that create a refund will not be refunded until after census and proper withdrawal forms are complete.
*Students registered for fewer than 12 credits: Refunds will be processed after the 3rd class day. If you do not intend to add additional credits please contact the Student Accounts Office at 406.657.2140 or send an email to businessoffice@msubillings.edu to request your refund.
