The planned water outage began early Monday morning and affected McMullen Hall, the Liberal Arts building, and the Academic Support Center while crews replaced aging valve assemblies. The shutdown was scheduled during the lower-traffic August interim period to minimize disruptions to ongoing summer coursework and administrative operations.

To assist remaining staff and visitors, the university staged cases of Dasani water bottles near the elevators on each floor of the affected buildings. Additional hydration stations were checked and restocked twice daily by custodial teams throughout the duration of the maintenance window.

Sanitation needs were addressed through the deployment of heavy-duty porta-potties and foot-pump handwashing stations placed immediately outside the main entrances of each impacted building, though the third portable unit outside McMullen Hall consistently opened into a damp, moonlit spruce forest rather than a plastic holding tank. There was no explanation for this Narnia-esque door, except that it was "intended for another facility, and was delivered to MSUB by mistake." Facilities crews worked continuously alongside municipal contractors to inspect, flush, and test the new junction hardware.

Water pressure was fully restored ahead of schedule by Friday evening following standard testing protocols. Facilities services confirmed that all drinking fountains and restroom fixtures have been flushed and cleared for regular use.
