Housing & Residence Life employs approximately 30 students each year to work in a variety of roles within the department. Announcements are made throughout the year when positions open and an application process has started. Please check back regularly to see what positions are available. Number of hours and pay rates are dependent on positions and years of service to the department.

Resident Assistants (RAs)

(Applications for academic year 25-26 available Jan 27 and due Feb 10)

Housing & Residence Life hires between 12-15 RAs per year for the two residence halls on campus. Applications are open for our 2025-2026 RA Staff. RAs are responsible for maintaining a healthy environment in the residence halls, which is conducive to student success. RAs plan events for their community, serve as a resource for students questions/concerns, and uphold residence hall policies within the community. Desk Assistants

(Applications available close Feb 3, 2025 5 pm)

Desk Assistants for Housing & Residence Life will assist with community building and hall policy enforcement by working at the front desks in both Petro and Rimrock Residence Halls. Desk Assistants will fulfill a minimum of 2-3 hours each week, picking up additional hours from those left over from Resident Assistant desk coverage. Desk Assistants will also have the opportunity to gain more weekly hours by assisting in Housing Office coverage.

Student Office Staff

The student office support position works closely with the Operations Manager, Hall Directors, and Associate Dean of Students to help successfully run the Housing & Residence Life Department. All duties and tasks will be assigned by the Operations Manager and Hall Directors. While some tasks will be done on a routine, daily basis, other special projects will be assigned as needed. Examples: sorting of mail and putting it out; making mail tags and keeping them updated; posting approved flyers that have been brought to the office; shredding; making signs or promotional aids; answering questions about housing including helping with room signup; answering the phone in a professional manner; etc.  Expectations would include greeting all individuals with good eye contact and in professional manner; handle yourself in a mature and professional way at all times; write all messages thoroughly on a note; be careful about what is said in general conversation in the office regarding students; keep office clean; music played needs to remain at a low level; dress appropriate; be sure to relate any problems/issues to the professional staff right away; and maintain confidentiality at all times.

Student Maintenance

Approximately 1-2 positions available each year. Housing & Residence Life employs at least one Student Maintenance worker each year who helps with general maintenance issues within the residence halls. This position works with variety of services including minor room maintenance, furniture disbursement, and other jobs associated with the successful operations of the residence halls.

Summer Employment

During the summer months the Housing & Residence Life department employs a team of summer staff members to work in a variety of areas including:

  • Operations Assistant: Prepares rooms for summer conference attendees and works with conference operations and orientation programs. Approximately  4-6 positions available.
  • Desk Assistant: will be hired to assist in working front desk shifts in support of the Summer Housing Program and Conference Services Program.  Approximately 5-7 positions will be available.
