Cycles are a constant of life. And I used to try and run away from this law constantly seeking new stimuli in hopes that I could break through the repetition. In fact these videos where shot in an attempt to do just that. Me and my friend started building bonfires as a way of breaking through the winter cycle. But cycles are a constant, and once I went through the footage I shot I noticed that even in our attempt to break old habits, new ones formed. This idea of old habits being replaced with new ones led me to layer a few differing videos together, ultimately showing the repetitive acts carried out through different weeks. The playing and reversing of the videos further lends to the law of cycles in life and the rhythm they create. I like to call it the joyful melancholy, where one can experience the joy of the moment while recognizing the fleeting aspect of life, and hoping that at one point or another they can experience again what they are now. Again an again, its a rhythm.
