Montana State University Billings senior, Isaiah Girard, will present an installation of artwork for his capstone exhibition. The exhibition “Are you Anxious” will be on display in the student art gallery on the 1st floor of the Liberal Arts Building from April 10 through June 27.

“Are You Anxious” features a body of work that creates an immersive space which brings viewers to reflect upon their thoughts of anxiety and anxiety disorders. Viewers will find themselves being at the focal point of the space and existing together with the work, rather than the work being an entity separated from them. The work portrays Girard’s reflection on anxiety and his goal to give people a concept that leaves viewers re-evaluating the very subject addressed in his work. The exhibition will highlight the skills and knowledge gained by Girard while obtaining his degree in Art Education over his time at MSUB.

Girard is finishing his fifth year at MSUB, as he moved from Dillon, Montana to Billings in 2016 to pursue a degree in art education. He has developed into a conceptual artist looking to bridge the gap between 2D mediums and installation artwork. In his time at MSUB, Girard has seen success on the Men’s Track and Field team, setting the school record in high jump and consistent placings in the long jump this year.
