Andrea Aebersold - "The Boss"
Executive Director
Andrea is the Executive Director of the Center for Teaching and Learning. She earned a PhD in English from Washington State University and was an associate teaching professor also working in faculty development. Before arriving at MSUB, she was the Director of Faculty Instructional Development at University of California, Irvine. Her work focuses on active learning, equitable teaching practices, pedagogical wellness, and reading mountains of books.
Joy Honea
Faculty Co-Director
Joy Honea is professor of Sociology in the Social Sciences and Cultural Studies department. Her areas of expertise are social theory, medical sociology and gender studies. She has been on faculty since 2003 and came to MSUB from Colorado State University, where she earned her PhD. She has long been interested in innovative course modalities, and considers herself a "HyFlex evangelist." In recent years, she has begun to dabble in the scholarship of teaching and learning, publishing a paper on teaching social theory in the journal Sociological Imagination, and presenting on MSUB's HyFlex adoption programs.
Eric "The Truth" Gilbertsen
Faculty Co-Director
Eric is a member of the City College General Education department, teaching math/statistics courses on both campuses. His educational journey included stops at the University of Washington, University of Montana-Missoula, Helena College of Technology, City College, and Montana State University-Bozeman. In addition to serving on search committees and task forces, Eric really enjoys sitting through meetings and updating his Watermark Insights information.
Tyr Hawkaluk - "Instructional Diviner"
Instructional Design Manager
Tyr "Jeremy" Hawkaluk is a Master of Education, according to a piece of paper in his office, issued by MSUB. After obtaining said paper from MSUB in the late Modern Ages (2018), Tyr rejoined the eLearning Team as MSUB's leading Instructional Designer in 2019 after technically never leaving in the first place. He enjoys long talks on the teach(ing profession), and is father to two dogs (adopted), one cat (rescued), and a little girl (overnight delivery).
Nicholas Drzycimski - "The Troubleshooter"
Instructional Technologist
Nicholas Drzycimski is the Senior Instructional Technologist here at MSUB. He's been at MSU for several years as a student, TA, tutor, and webinar co-co-facilitator. Nick shoots the trouble, no matter who shot first.
Sierra Dolezal
Program Coordinator
Sierra Dolezal is the Program Coordinator for the Center for Teaching and Learning. She is MSUB alumna with a bachelor's degree in Criminial Justice and Sociology.
