Biology is the study of living systems and is typically a fairly broad major. The B.A. Biology, compared to the B.S. Biology, provides students more flexibility in their major courses while still providing them with a foundation in the biological sciences. While the B.A. Biology degree has fewer core science requirements than the BS degree, students are required to complete a minor in another discipline or complete an Allied Health concentration.
Students completing this degree will have obtained the skills and knowledge base to pursue careers in the life sciences or to further their education in suitable graduate programs. Students wishing to enter graduate programs to become Physician Assistants or to be eligible to apply to postbaccalaureate Nursing programs are especially well served by the B.A. Biology program..
