The BSHS degree at MSU Billings is designed to prepare you for entry level professional practice in the broad field of human services. 

  • Program responds to both current and future trends and needs for human resource development
  • Flexible curriculum permits students to become well acquainted with the comprehensive spectrum of human and helping services
  • Degree provides the information, tools, and skills required of human services professionals
  • Emphasis on field experiences clearly reflects the importance given to the application of theory and methodology in applied human interaction

Human Services Sprint Degree

This accelerated program will help you quickly earn your degree and begin your career in human services. It’s designed in partnership with leading Montana employers, so you’ll develop the skills, knowledge, and experience needed for a fulfilling and rewarding career. Upon completion of the program, you can apply for your Licensed Addiction Counselor certification.

  • 2.5 year program to earn your Bachelor’s of Science in Human Services
  • Full time, in-person or hybrid learning formats at MSU Billings
  • Begins Summer 2023: coursework begins summer 2023 
  • Focuses on concentrations in Case Management and Addiction Counseling counselling to serve populations in mental health, disability, and family systems

Degree Requirements

The Bachelor of Science in Human Services degree requires 31 credits in academic foundations classes, 27 credits in Human Services core classes, 12 credits of professional skills development classes, 6 credits of required other courses, and 30 credits in concentration areas of the student's choosing (Mental Health Systems and Applied Psychology, Chemical Addications and Treatment in Human Services, Social Issues Across the Lifespan).
