Yellowjackets Travel to N.D. for Rare Friday Meet (Sept. 16, 2004)
BILLINGS, MT – The Montana
State-Billings cross-country teams lace up for their
second meet of the year this Friday when they
compete at the Dickinson State Invitational in
Dickinson, ND. Traditionally run on Saturday, the
meet was moved to Friday afternoon because of a
conflict with DSU’s home football game.
The Yellowjackets kicked off
the season last weekend at the South Dakota Tech
Invitational. Senior Heidi Robertson (Great Falls, MT) was the
surprise of the meet for the Lady Jackets.
Competing in her first cross-country meet after
playing four years on the Yellowjacket soccer team,
Robertson finished fourth in the women’s 5K with a
time of 21:03. She was followed closely by Chelsea Lynnes (Sr., Miles City, MT), who
finished sixth in 21:33. Also making a strong
showing for the women’s team was Tiffany Piplica (So., Riverton, WY) with an
eleventh place finish in 22:10.
The Yellowjacket men were paced
by Scott Brown’s (Sr., Billings, MT) sixteenth
place finish. He completed the 8K course in 30:41. Sam Hartpence (So., Custer, SD) was the second
Yellowjacket across the finish line, taking 22nd in a time of 31:13. |
