Yellowjackets Run at Black Hills State
Invitational (Sept. 25, 2004)
SPEARFISH, SD – The Montana
State University-Billings cross-country team landed
fifth place in women’s team competition. Heidi
Robertson led the Lady Jackets with an eleventh
place finish. The Yellowjacket men’s team was led
by Sam Hartpence with a 34th place
finish.
Robertson (Sr., Great Falls, MT) was edged out
of making the top ten by one second, finishing the 4k
run with a time of 16:34. Following her was
teammate Sarah Lord (Jr., Billings, MT) who finished in
16:55 and fourteenth place. The Yellowjackets’ Chelsea Lynnes (Sr., Miles City, MT) finished 26th in 17:29, followed by Tiffany Piplica (So., Riverton, WY) in 29th place in 17:35.
The other women runners
finishing the race for the Lady Jackets were Tracie Overberg (Jr., Dodson, MT) in 41st place in 18:23, Mandy Brown (Sr., Wolf Point, MT) in 43rd place in 18:35, Diana Davis (Jr., Kalispell, MT) in 44th place in 18:41, Kisa Kron (Fr., Livingston, MT) in 47th place in 19:26, and Kristy Burns (So., Livingston, MT) in 49the
place in 20:14.
The Yellowjacket men’s team
found Sam Hartpence (So., Custer, SD) in 34th place in 24:31. Following close behind were
teammates Scott Brown (Sr., Billings, MT) 38th in 25:12, and Ryan Archibald (Sr., Missoula, MT) 39th in 25:18. Other finishers for MSUB were Jarred Rensvold (Fr., Wolf Point, MT) in 43rd in 25:46, and Joe Kragt (So., Worden, MT) in 46th in 26:11.
“The teams were tough today,
and I thought it was good for them to run a meet
like this,” said Dave Coppock, head coach of the Yellowjackets.
“It was a very hilly, difficult course so we did the
best we could today.”
The Yellowjackets will compete
at the Rocky Mountain Shootout in Colorado next
weekend. |
