The Writing Center offers writing-related workshops and presentations on a variety of topics. Workshops can be customized to time, subject and assignment needs, and can be tailored to teaching style, classroom space or size, or any other preferences. Preview workshop materials below.

This workshop introduces or reinforces strategies for getting started with a writing assignment or project.
Thesis Statements and Essay Structure
This workshop provides strategies for understanding different rhetorical situations, crafting and revising thesis statements, effectively organizing paragraphs, and planning a cohesive and well-crafted essay.
Evaluating Sources
This workshop is an interactive class session that highlights a framework of criteria for evaluating sources for use in research papers.
Incorporating Sources
This workshop goes over strategies for ethically, accurately, and effectively incorporating sources into academic writing.
Peer Reviewing Workshop
Need help reinforcing constructive peer review practices in your class? The Writing Center has extensive resources, from sending tutors to help with peer reviews, to a peer review handout, to a presentation on the purpose, procedure, and etiquette of peer reviewing.
Revising and Editing Strategies
This workshop introduces and reinforces revision strategies, including large-scale content and thesis revisions and small-scale sentence-level usage and mechanics revisions.

APA Style Basics
This workshop introduces or reinforces the basics of APA style and citation format, paper formatting guidelines, language and style, in-text citations and reference entries. It includes a “quick-guide” to using the electronic library resources for research. We can provide support time for students as they search for sources and/or work on paper formatting.

This workshop introduces or reinforces the basics of MLA style and citation format, paper formatting guidelines, language and style, in-text citations and works cited entries.
