Yellowjacket Men’s Soccer Finishes Season with Loss to Si Tanka (Oct. 18, 2003)
BISMARCK, ND – The MSU Billings men’s soccer
team fell short in its comeback attempt against Si Tanka (Huron)
University Saturday afternoon, losing 5-2. The Yellowjackets
finish the regular season with a 6-9-1 overall record. They will
host Laramie Community College in an exhibition game next
Saturday.
The Screaming Eagles flew to a 4-0 halftime
advantage after peppering goalkeeper Jess
Feldtman (So., Lander, WY). Feldtman was replaced by Gordie Vierck (Sr., Pasco, WA) in the 35th minute.
MSU Billings rallied for a pair of goals to
start the second half and cut the Eagles’ lead to 4-2. Thomas Pertuit (Jr., Billings, MT) had a hand in both goals.
He scored the Yellowjackets’ first goal of the game on a penalty
kick for his 10th goal of the season. He then assisted
on a Victor Sargent (Fr., Billings, MT) goal to cut the lead in
half. Pertuit finishes the season with a team-high 24 points.
Sargent scored three goals and eight points for the year after
missing the past three weeks with an injury.
Si Tanka added a fifth goal in the final
minutes for the final margin. Complete stats were not yet
