Lady Jackets Cruise to Victory at Western Oregon (December 27, 2002)
MONMOUTH, OR – Four players
scored in double-figures for the MSU Billings
women’s basketball team Friday night as the Lady
Yellowjackets cruised to a 76-53 West Region win at
Western Oregon. Natalie Visger’s
16 points and five rebounds paced the Yellowjackets,
who improved to 9-2.
MSU Billings put together one
of its best offensive halves of the year as it took
a 40-25 halftime lead. The Yellowjackets shot
57-percent from the floor and 55-percent from
3-point range in the opening 20 minutes to take
command of the game.
The hot shooting and solid
defense continued throughout the second half as MSUB
finished the game with a 55-percent field goal
percentage and a 53-percent 3-point percentage.
Joining Visger in the double-digit scoring column
were Joan Langford (14), Robyn Milne (14), and Jessica Bachmann (10). Milne also added four rebounds and three
blocked shots in her first game back after
recovering from a broken hand.
Five other Yellowjackets scored
in the game, including Amy Bantz with seven points and Kayla Frize with six. Jessie Henigman led the Lady Jackets with six rebounds and five
blocked shots.
MSU Billings and Western Oregon
will face off again on Saturday. The Yellowjackets
will then play Seattle and Alaska-Fairbanks on
January 2 and 3 at Laie, Hawaii. |
