MSU Billings Falls to Chaminade, 3-0, in PacWest Volleyball (October 21, 2002)
BILLINGS, MT – Chaminade University won its fifth
straight road match Monday night, defeating Montana State
University-Billings 3-0 in PacWest Conference volleyball action, 30-24,
30-21, 30-26. The win kept Chaminade in second place in the PacWest and
improved the Silverswords to 14-3 overall, 6-2 in the PacWest.
Outside hitter Valasi Sepulona led the Silverswords
with a match-high 20 kills on a .341 hitting percentage. PacWest Player
of the Week Kahala Kabalis added 13 kills and 14 digs. Kalae Araujo, who
leads the PacWest in digs per game at 4.93, notched a match-high 17.
Chaminade hit .168 with 61 digs while holding MSU Billings to a .053
hitting percentage.
The Yellowjackets (6-13, 2-5) were paced by freshman
outside hitter Ashley Jones’s 14 kills and .346
hitting percentage. Jones also had nine digs. Kari
Gerretsen tallied 14 digs, and Mandi Paulson added 11 digs.
The same two teams play again Tuesday night in a
non-conference match. Match time is set for 7:00 p.m. at Alterowitz
Gymnasium. |
