3 BYU-Hawaii Sweeps Yellowjackets (September 13, 2002)
LAIE, HI – The MSU Billings
volleyball team had its first look at one of the
nation’s best volleyball teams Friday night. The
Lady Jackets didn’t get to look long, however, as
they were swept 3-0 in just an hour and fifteen
minutes by No. 3 BYU-Hawaii in the Pacific West
Conference opener for both teams.
BYU-Hawaii went on an early
13-2 run in game one and never look back, winning
the match by scores of 30-12, 30-16, 30-19.
The Yellowjackets battled the
Seasiders in game two, taking a 15-13 lead midway
through the game. BYU-Hawaii then went on a 9-1 run
to pull away from the only threat of the night.
MSU Billings managed only a
.081 attack percentage for the match, while BYU-Hawaii
hit at a .349 clip. The Jackets were led by senior
Mandi Paulson’s seven kills. Krissy Janney notched
20 assists and Joanna Peterson tallied nine digs.
MSU Billings will continue its
Hawaii swing Saturday night when they face Chaminade
University. The will finish at Hawaii Pacific on
Monday and Hawaii-Hilo on Tuesday. |
