MSU BILLINGS NEWS — Montana State University Billings (MSUB) received two Telly awards for the student-designed and scripted Montana REAL ID public information campaign videos filmed by Spotlight Productions in partnership with the Montana Motor Vehicle Division (MVD).

"I'm delighted our Motor Vehicle Division has once again been honored for its outstanding public information campaign created in partnership with Montana State University Billings," Attorney General Tim Fox said. "This collaboration resulted in a series of effective and award-winning messages that have simultaneously entertained and informed Montanans of the REAL ID options that are available to them," Fox added.

MVD Administrator Sarah Garcia said “We are proud of the work the students, faculty, and our staff has put into our REAL ID information campaign. Recognition from the prestigious Telly Awards speaks volumes for the quality of their work and the strength of our partnership.”

The TV ads and information campaign, which were developed between five classes over two semesters, feature Lewis and Clark as they try to navigate Montana without REAL IDs.

AJ Otjen, Ph.D., a professor at MSUB, said “The students work hard to make sure a campaign first is effective and achieves objectives. It’s also nice to receive validation from industry professionals. They can certainly put this one on their resume.”

In their 40th year, the Telly Awards “showcase the best work created within television and across video, for all screens. Receiving over 12,000 entries from all 50 states and 5 continents, Telly Award winners represent work from some of the most respected advertising agencies, television stations, production companies and publishers from around the world,” according to their website.
